Juana,
I always said that "Every parent want to get invloved in their child 's education " but need help and guidance from the school staff. Making sure their child came to school everyday is parent involvement . Parents need to know what their child academic expectations are from the teachers and what can they do a home to promote the learning at home. For example watching the Discovery Channel at home, going to the library on Satrudays, making a cake together ,writting letter to each others, looking at the store fliers, etc.

I am not sure if it was clear enough as to what the effective parental involvement should be from this article. Of course, the answers vary based on demographics, income level, parent's education, social connections etc. but it raises an important issue as to what level and how parents should be involved.

Mmm, really good article.

It strikes me that a 'back to basics' approach works really well, easier said than done possibly with our hectic, modern lifestyles.

I feel that have the right work / life balance with your children as the priority would also help - again not necessarily as easy as it sounds.
