I am looking for a chart that might have in one column the characteristics of each developmental stage in literacy and in a corresponding column, teaching practices to support each stage. Does anyone have something like this?

Thank you,
Noelle Apostol

It is interesting that finding the actual standards at the Core Standards website takes a bit of searching. Perhaps I focus too much on one particular standard in Math for Kindergarten:

    * 1. Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
    * 2. Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
    * 3. Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).

As the Early Childhood community, by definition 0 to 8 years old, it seems that there is a disconnect about how to define "developmentally appropriate" between the K-12 world and the Pre-K world. I honestly worry about kindergarten children meeting this standard in a developmentally appropriate manner.
